Your Chairperson and Trustees would like to thank all homeowners for their patience during the build and new security system upgrade.
Please be assured that the system does allow ease via the gate (one side of the gate opens) for “biometric” pedestrians with e.g. prams, dogs, bicycles…
By now you should’ve received the e-mail sent out with the necessary forms which need to be completed and e-mailed to Lesley at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once all the information has been loaded on the new access control system, a further notice will be sent out for you to visit the Estate Office in order for your finger print and photo to be captured.
During this take on process you will still be able to use your existing access card (as well as your finger) until the old system is disabled. The anticipated date for the new system to be active is by 1 July 2018.
Mulching all the beds, especially newly planted bulbs is key. This will retain moisture in the soil and keep weeds from germinating around the new plants.
Make sure that all beds are turned and kept weed-free. Most plants love a well turned, aerated soil.
Winter is the best time to plant trees and shrubs. The plant roots develop fast and get lots of deep watering from any abundant rainfall (hopefully), and growth is exponential during summer.
Contrary to what many of us think, winter is a good time to add colour to your garden. Pots and bed borders look lovely with flowering violas, cinerarias and primulas.
So get the wellies on, switch the TV off and get the whole family into the garden this weekend 🙂
We would like to encourage our residents to make more use of our website. Please feel free to have a browse through it to see how easy it is to find what you are looking for e.g. Renovation Procedure, Contractor Agreement etc. By all means, please contact us with any suggestions you may have. Regardless of what your installer tells you, PLEASE be reminded that for obvious health & safety reasons, braais, fireplaces, ‘stoves’ etc. venting externally via a chimney or flue (whether built-in or free-standing, brickwork or steel, charcoal, ‘pellets’, gas or wood), need to comply not only with National Building Regulations, but also the Big Bay Precinct architectural design requirements, i.e. plans and elevations etc. need to be approved first by the HOA and then the City of Cape Town in advance of installation. Although mentioned in numerous newsletters, since there’s also ‘rules’ pertaining to the location of aircon units, heat pumps etc., please be reminded again to contact the Estate Office BEFORE even getting quotes for same. Failure to comply with all or both of the above could result in costly rectification after-the-fact (or even removal!), whether it’s noticed now or one day when you wish to sell your home…
We would like to make another of our ongoing heartfelt appeals to all Estate dog owners, their children, domestics, dog walkers etc.: If/When your dog poops anywhere on the Estate PLEASE do the responsible thing and pick it up! It’s bad enough that poo is simply left in the sandpits in the parks in which children play, or that nobody enjoys accidentally stepping into it, but it’s also quite disgusting just to leave it lying there! We’ve asked nicely often enough now and regret to advise that due to some people simply not ‘giving a poo’, with immediate effect all culprits will be heavily penalised, no exceptions or excuses. Please advise your child, dog walker, domestic, gardener etc. of this to prevent getting saddled with a R500 penalty…
May we also take this opportunity to kindly remind all dog owners of the R 500 per dog fine/penalty if a dog/s is seen walking the estate off leash.
Unfortunately we’ve had an unprecedented number of complaints about speeding on our Estate, especially at the corners of Restio Road, Watsonia and Milkwood Crescents! PLEASE remind your children, visitors, deliveries etc. of our 20km/hr speed limit and the very important fact that pedestrians enjoy precedence over vehicles on our Estate roads!
